An Interview with Patrick Dennis

Check out the latest interview with Patrick Dennis, Director of Atlanta Foundation for Public Spaces as he speaks with FestivalLive.com about the upcoming Callanwolde Arts Festival.

Patrick Dennis, Director of AFFPS

Callanwolde Arts Festival’s second edition by Atlanta Foundation for Public Spaces will take residence at Callanwolde Fine Arts Center in Atlanta from January 23- 25, 2015 to bring a fusion of appealing Artworks along with many more creative attractions.

In a conversation with Festivalslive.com, Patrick Dennis, Executive Director of the Atlanta Foundation for Public Spaces takes us through the making of this festival, key takeaways from this edition and more…

Thank you for conversing with Festivalslive.com, Patrick, we would love to hear more about you & your role at this festival?

Sure, besides my role at this festival, I’m also a painter and owner of the Decatur Gallery. As an artist, it has always been important to me that we have meaningful contact with buyers. This can be accomplished with a well-run arts festival, and I’m happy to say our formula is working well! What started as an idea among artists ten years ago has now become an organization hosting eleven annual events in metro Atlanta in our city’s parks, historic properties and iconic venues.

What is the Callanwolde Arts Festival all about and please share the factors that influenced to start the fest?

In a serendipitous meeting with the new Director of the Callanwolde Fine Arts Center, the opportunity presented itself to host the first ever arts festival at the historic mansion. We knew that we would attract top level artists from the southeast, but had modest expectations. What we found was that the combination of extraordinary artwork filling every inch of the mansion and Conservatory rooms attracted thousands of enthusiastic patrons who were as excited to see the artwork of the 84 participants as they were the mansion ‘fully dressed.’ Artists truly enjoyed their surroundings, as well as being indoors during January! The mansion showcases artwork beautifully. <<Read More>>
